FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about The Female Archetypes.
What is adjustable clothing, and how does it work?
Our pieces are designed to change with your body and your life. The trench, shirt, and blazer feature discreet side panels that button or zip in and out, so you can adapt the fit without changing the look. Our jeans use built-in pleats that expand or contract as needed. Every adjustment is invisible — seamless style with flexibility, comfort, and freedom.
How do I know what size to order?
Each adjustable piece is designed to comfortably span two UK dress sizes (for example, UK 10–14 or UK 14–18), so you have room to move between them without needing a new size. Check the size guide on each product page for exact measurements, or get in touch and we'll help you find your fit.
Will it still fit me through pregnancy, postpartum, or menopause?
Yes — that's the whole point. The adjustable panels and pleats are built to accommodate the body changes that come with pregnancy, postpartum recovery, perimenopause, and everyday fluctuations like bloating or your cycle. One piece, many versions of you.
Why choose functional fashion?
Functional fashion is about more than style — it's clothes that support you in everyday life. Rather than prioritising looks over comfort, it combines design with purpose: adaptability, durability, and ease of wear. Choosing functional fashion means investing in pieces that support you through life's changes while reducing waste and promoting conscious consumption.
What makes The Female Archetypes sustainable?
We believe sustainability starts with designing fewer, better pieces. Our clothes are timeless and adjustable, meaning they adapt to your changing body and life, reducing the need for constant new purchases. We produce in small batches to avoid waste, use responsible materials wherever possible, and prioritise quality so each garment lasts for years.
Where are your clothes made?
Everything is made in London by women working flexibly, paid the London Living Wage.
How do I care for my garment?
Care varies slightly by fabric — full instructions are included on each product page and on the label. As a general rule, spot clean where possible and avoid over-washing to protect colour and shape.
What's your delivery and returns policy?
Free UK delivery, with free international delivery over £500. If something isn't quite right, you have 30 days to return it free of charge. Full details are on our Shipping and Returns page.
