And I am bringing my all.
This story is about women.
Yes, it’s also about fashion. And being a founder. And being a mother.
But again, all of that is about women.
I always knew that I wanted to work in the fashion industry. And I have been able to work with some of the world’s leading brands, both as a buyer and as a wholesale director. But when I became a mother, I felt so letdown (no pun intended…) by the industry that I had invested my time, skill and energy into. Not for the reasons you might expect. It wasn’t that I was made redundant after maternity leave, it wasn’t that I was pushed out. But I realised that there was nothing that would fit and flatter my new body. I was accustomed to having clothing that worked for my body but now that my body was new and different, nothing seemed to work.
I wanted comfort but I also wanted style.
I wanted functional but I also wanted beautiful.
I wanted chic, sophisticated, sustainable quality.
And so through the endless nights and even more interminable days, as postnatal depression took its toll, I became a founder. A founder of a company whose mission is to serve women with beautiful, sustainable, shapeshifting pieces that accompany women throughout all the many and varied stages of life. And so, The Female Archetypes was born.
So, whether women are navigating postpartum bodies, menopause or illness, our pieces will shapeshift and adjust to the bodies we have today and the bodies we might have in the future.
And by choosing to create our pieces in London, in small batches, working directly with our incredible suppliers, we are able to keep our footprint small. And in my role as founder, I have poured over every seam, every button, every popper, every stitch, to ensure these garments are fit for purpose and fit for the women we are serving.
We are paving the way for a revolution in how we clothe our bodies, clothing that goes the distance, pieces that mould to us.
So that we can focus on living.
And we are so glad to have you with us.
